There's a lot of discussion about the ethical use of AI in creating visual works and I completely agree it is unsettling how fast these visualizers are progressing. For me it is not about replacing people but adding tools to the process. Decades ago when I was applying for design schools they wouldn't accept any work made on a computer - no Photoshop, no Illustrator - everything had to be made by hand. Midjourney and others have changed everything again, and I think it is very exciting. There is no better tool to iterate and generate ideas so quickly - like digging through swipe files made with your direction. Make the jump! For more information on MidJourney click here.
There is no real controlling the Midjourney process at this time - it is best to go in with an open mind and lots of patience. Start with an idea, build your prompts out and see what comes back. The more you try to control the results the more frustrating the experience. This isn't a tool for generating images with specific direction and needs - it is a mood and an iterative surprise generator - a partner to shake it up. The results are beautiful but come from a place that won't be told what to do, it often takes a mountain of prompts to get something that you like. The first two sets below are good examples of walking hand in hand with AI.
